What is the HCG Diet? Done properly, it is a medical program with medical supervision that uses calorie restriction and a natural prescription hormone (HCG) to help men and women (and youths) shed body fat while maintaining lean muscle mass. The result is a loss of significant body fat in a short time.

In our experience, men can lose up to one pound per day and women up to three quarter pounds per day – of FAT. Like all diets, results will vary but most clients do well on the diet. Significantly, clients tend to continue the lifestyle changes learned as part of the diet and continue to lose and / or maintain their weight loss.

Other benefits in addition to loss of fat. Other benefits include reduced cholesterol, reduced blood pressure and a reversal of type 2 diabetes, as a measured by a decline in HgA1C. Most clients report feeling great while on the HCG Diet with no side effects. Most report that they are continuing their new healthy lifestyle and maintaining their weight loss. The HCG Diet is a motivating diet that gives you confidence in reducing calories and in eliminating most sugars and “bad” carbohydrates from the diet.

The WHY of weight loss. Natural Bio Health clinics are unique in that we specialize in determining the reasons why a client may struggle with body weight and body fat. Once this determination is made, we address not only the immediate weight loss, but the underlying causes of the excess weight.

For example, hormonal deficiencies or imbalances are often the reason why clients may struggle with excess body fat even though they are eating a healthy diet and exercise regularly. Prescription drugs like anti-depressants also contribute to weight gain as do many other prescription drugs. Stress and its effects on cortisol play a role as does poor sleep quality.

The HCG Protocol. The HCG protocol consists of a restricted calorie diet, 500 – 600 calories per day (this may vary somewhat), along with regular treatments of HCG, either injected (most common and preferred) or orally (drops under the tongue). The combination of the restricted calorie diet and the prescription HCG is what makes the HCG diet so successful in our clinics.

Further, the client is burning fat which provides calories up to 2000 per day and more. Therefore, dieters are typically not hungry even though the amount of food they are eating is small. They are in a state of ketosis state made popular with the Atkins diet. It is noteworthy that restricting calories for a period of time is not only healthy for the body and the brain but it is the only scientifically proven method for extending life span.

Who can benefit from the HCG Diet? We use the HCG diet to help those who have struggled with their weight for years; for those who excess body fat has become a more recent problem; diabetic patients who want are not having success controlling their weight and want to get off of their medications. It can help those with high blood pressure and those with high cholesterol. It is a great way to begin a LIFESTYLE CHANGE.

Necessary product and onsite medical supervision. Each client of Natural Bio Health is provided a prescription HCG (the only HCG recognized by the FDA), a quality Multi-vitamin/multi-mineral, magnesium potassium, a natural cleanse product and a weekly injection of a high dose B12. Adequate protein is ensured. Lab tests are required and body composition analysis and medical exams are included.

Our medical staff is on site and working with you. Many clinics advertise medical supervision which really means they have a doctor our there somewhere to give them a “look of legitimacy.”

Weekly weigh ins are part of the program and each participant is encouraged to add a probiotic to their diet. If a participants are unable to attend the weekly weigh-ins, telemedicine facilities ensure face to face contact is maintained at all times subsequent to the initial visit.

General Information About HCG

The use of HCG in weight loss programs was developed over 50 years ago by a British physician named Dr. A.T.W. Simeons. Dr. Simeon’s protocol was brought to the attention of the public by Kevin Trudeau in his 2007 book “The Weight Loss Cure ‘They’ Don’t Want You to Know About.” It has been successfully used in Europe for more than 50 years, by both men and women.

HCG is a prescription item that helps to preserve your lean muscle and basal metabolic rate in a low calorie diet program. Dr. Simeon has stated that it resets your hypothalamus.

Our clients on a HCG diet in Austin, Odessa, San Antonio and College Station can lose up to one  pound of body weight per day while on the HCG calorie restricted diet. The total loss can vary but most HCG dieters are successful in losing significant body fat. See testimonials and see weight loss projections below based on actual experience and based on the clinical study conducted by Natural Bio Health published in the Bariatric Journal.

Loss of Body Fat is the KEY. Our program targets your unwanted body fat, leaving you looking and feeling great. It offers success where many weight loss programs offer only discouragement and failure.

Other weight loss programs: Many weight loss programs result in significant muscle loss. This looks good on a “scale and BMI” approach to weight loss but dieters on these programs quickly regain any lost weight.

The reason why you rapidly regain body weight on other programs is that when you lose muscle it lowers your Basal Metabolic Rate. This weight loss might look good on a scale and your BMI does go down — but so does your percent body fat (the most important measurement of success).

HCG Diet: Little or NO muscle loss. There is little or no muscle loss on a successful HCG diet. There is also no loose skin as occurs when dieters lose muscle.  Successful HCG dieters who maintain the lifestyle and healthy eating they learned on the HCG diet are also successful in keeping their excess body fat to a minimum. If hormonal issues were a problem and if they have been resolved by the physicians at Natural Bio Health, then a healthy life as well as a healthy weight is a common result.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • What is HCG?

HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone naturally produced in large quantity during pregnancy. HCG is used in infertility treatment for both men and women. During pregnancy, this hormone acts as the primary control for the woman’s metabolic functions. It partially explains why some overweight women actually lose weight during pregnancy. HCG is used in infertility treatment in very large quantities.

Dr. ATW Simeons found that small regular doses of HCG caused the body to release abnormal fat, when used in conjunction with a specific 500 calorie daily diet. This is detailed in Dr. Simeons manuscript Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity. HCG is used to treat medical conditions in males, including low testosterone levels.

  • How much weight will I lose with the HCG diet?

If you are on the HCG diet in Austin or HCG diet in Odessa, College Station, or San Antonio, you can expect to lose ½ to ¾ lbs per day. Many lose up to 1 lb. per day and a few lose more. Females should expect to lose 20 to 30 lbs. during the 40 day program. Men typically may lose 30 to 40 lbs. during the 40 day program. Strict compliance with the program is required to achieve these results.

Factors that may increase weight loss include adding/increasing vegetable intake and mixing salad with each meal. Fiber intake is extremely important, as is water intake. A key to success is the expertise of the clinic staff in individualizing the program for each person. Since this is a prescription item, do not be fooled by “homeopathic HCG” or long distance marketers who are not qualified to perform medical weight loss.

  • What preparations are required for HCG diet shots?

Before commencing the HCG diet in Austin or HCG diet in Odessa, College Station, or San Antonio, your physician or practitioner will request blood tests and perform a general health assessment. Your CMP (complete metabolic panel), CBC (complete blood count), and Thyroid profile (free T3, free T4 and TSH) are measured. Other blood tests may be ordered to determine if medical conditions such as PCOS exist.

Blood pressure is measured. An extensive In-Body Body Composition Analysis is also performed (at least twice), to document the amount of excess body fat, water intake, BMI, Percent of Body Fat, and amount of lean muscle. This analysis will also ensure that you are losing fat and not muscle, and that your basal metabolic rate does not decrease. It may even increase!

Other low calorie diets cause a significant loss of muscle mass, a decrease in the basal metabolic rate, fatigue, and skin laxity – and the weight is eventually regained.

  • Do I have to buy diet foods?

While on the HCG diet in Austin or HCG diet in Odessa, College Station, or San Antonio, you will eat fresh food that you can buy from the grocery store. We provide a detailed list of the foods that you can eat (with calorie counts) while on the 40 day protocol. Most of our clients do purchase the protein drinks we offer, to assist them during the protocol.

  • Is it healthy to lose weight rapidly? Will my skin become wrinkled, loose?

Most of the weight loss with the restricted diet with HCG comes directly from fat and does not strip the body of much needed muscle, vitamins, or minerals essential to maintain good health. At the same time, excessive amounts of fat-stored nutrients are released into the blood stream to be absorbed by the body. For this reason, those on the HCG diet in Austin or HCG diet in Odessa (or anywhere else) typically report they feel good on the program, and do not have hunger pangs or cravings. They also experience a significant improvement in their cholesterol profile, their sleep quality, and insulin. Our program measures lipid profiles (cholesterol) when you start the program and when you finish. Health risks from being overweight are reduced as much as 50% with even a 10% decrease in body fat.

Skin stays healthy and skin elasticity is not affected, in part because muscle is preserved. Some bariatric surgeons have been reported to use HCG after surgery to help prevent skin looseness (elasticity).

  • Why the 500 calorie diet – VLCD (very low calorie diet)?

HCG diet shots cause your body to mobilize the fat out of the fat storage locations, so that it’s available for use. While you are only consuming 500 calories, your hypothalamus is signaling for the release of the fat stored in your body. Because of this, your body is actually using thousands of calories a day from your fat.

The HCG allows your body to tap into your body’s abnormal fat deposits (shoulders, upper arms, hips, thighs, and buttocks). In overweight and obese clients, these deposits are not usually accessible to the body for fat consumption. The HCG present in the body allows these abnormal fat deposits to be tapped, releasing the abnormal fat into the blood stream and out of the body. This release of fat is also why clients taking the HCG are not hungry.

Caution: Because you are on a low calorie diet, it is essential you be under the care of a physician. A low calorie diet has its own health risks.

  • Why can’t I just eat 500 calories a day and lose weight? Why add HCG?

Dr. Simeons, the physician who developed the HCG Weight Loss Cure Protocol, stated: ”When an obese patient tries to reduce by starving himself, he will first lose his normal fat reserves. When these are exhausted he begins to burn up structural fat, and only as a last resort will the body yield its abnormal reserves, though by that time the patient usually feels so weak and hungry that the diet is abandoned.

It is for this reason that overweight and obese patients complain that when they diet, they lose the “wrong fat.” They usually feel like they are in fact starving, and they feel tired. Their face becomes drawn and haggard and their skin wrinkled and loose. Fat areas, including the belly, hips, thighs and upper arms, show little improvement. The fat they want to lose stays and the fat they need to cover their bones gets less and less. The dieter can look older and unhealthy. As noted by Dr. Simeons: “The HCG allows your body to tap into your body’s abnormal fat deposits.” It also preserves both muscle and the basal metabolic rate.

  • Will I be hungry on 500 calories a day?

When on the HCG diet in Austin or the HCG diet in Odessa, College Station, or San Antonio, you are likely to experience mild hunger during the first few days. This should pass within a few days. By the second week, you will find even very tiny servings to be satisfying. This is partly due to your hypothalamus adjusting your metabolic rate, but largely due to the amount of calories circulating in your system from the fat being released. It is common that HCG dieters feel as though they are stuffing themselves in order to reach that 500 calorie limit!

Notice: If hunger continues, Lifetime Health Weight Loss can offer natural appetite suppressants and/or prescriptions appetite suppressants to help alleviate any issues.

  • Who is a candidate for HCG Diet Shots?

The majority of men and women can use HCG injections for weight loss. However, note that HCG is a prescription hormone, and it should be supervised and monitored by a physician or other qualified medical person in a clinic setting. Health issues can occur if a person is using HCG with a very low calorie restricted diet.

Calorie restricted diets can result in ketosis. Generally, this is not a problem, as ketosis means that our bodies are using fat for energy. However, in certain circumstances, this can lead to ketoacidosis.

Note that the Physician will NOT permit HCG weight loss injections for women who are pregnant or nursing. Lab tests are essential, and weekly check-ups are recommended for both weight loss and health reasons. Hormonal issues and health conditions must be considered to ensure success

A physician should always determine if you are a candidate for a calorie restricted diet with HCG or if you have special health risks that must be monitored.

  • How about safety and side effects of HCG Diet Shots?

Side effects are rare when a calorie restricted diet with HCG is used in a physician supervised and monitored weight loss program. Special risks that can be addressed by a physician include diabetes, clients on blood pressure medicines, or certain clients with PCOS or gallbladder disease. HCG shots are used for fertility reasons, and in these larger amounts, it is known to cause occasional headaches and pregnancy symptoms. However, the amount used for the HCG diet protocol is very small, and the amount used for used for fertility purposes is very large. In either case, HCG is a hormone and can have hormonal effects.

  • Will I gain the weight back after the HCG diet?

After the calorie restricted (low calorie) diet with HCG is completed, you will find that your appetite has changed, your eating behavior has changed, and your body has changed. This is the perfect opportunity to adopt that healthy lifestyle to maintain your weight. Furthermore, at Lifetime Health Weight Loss, we continue your program with our “Metabolic Reset Diet” that helps to set your appetite hormone (Leptin), so that your weight loss can be permanent. We also offer hormone therapy, where appropriate, to address the underlying cause of many weight loss issues, such as:

    Hormone imbalance

With your hypothalamus reset, your metabolism will be different and you will be able to eat moderately without feeling the need to overeat. However, it is always recommended that you maintain a regular exercise program for 30 to 45 minutes per day, with two days of resistance training each week (20 to 30 minutes). This routine and a healthy diet will help ensure your health and weight.

  • What is the hypothalamus?

The hypothalamus moderates the thyroid, adrenals, fat storage, and more importantly, your metabolic rate. It also is the location of the appetite hormone leptin.

  • Is HCG safe for men?

The HCG used for the HCG weight loss protocol is actually already found in men. It is present in every human tissue, including males and non-pregnant women, as well as pregnant women. It is used in higher amounts to treat specific male medical conditions.

  • How painful are HCG injections for weight loss?

The HCG injections for weight loss are administered using a very fine insulin needle, and they are essentially painless. Most people say they are either painless or offer minor discomfort. The needles are used daily by diabetics. Creams and drops are available.

WARNING: There are many online services and toll free services offering HCG injections and/or HCG drops for home use without medical supervision. Their products may be termed “Homeopathic HCG.” They generally offer a disclaimer and recommend that you consult a physician before starting any program. They are betting of course, that you do not consult a physician and will often state that if you are in “good health” you do not need a physician. These are not prescription HCG. Furthermore, risks associated with a 500 calorie diet are significant and sometimes of critical concern.

There are also businesses claiming expertise in weight loss and/or hormone therapy, when in fact they have been in business only a short time. Additionally, some out of state clinics list local lab draw sites as their locations. Due diligence is important.

If you’re on the 26 day program and would like to extend it, you may be authorized by medical staff for an additional 17 days at an additional cost. Includes the following: additional monitoring, lipo-plex plus injections, 15 day supply of HCG, and weekly weigh and measure and consultations. The extension is $200.
