Yes, it’s true in one sense because if you’re on synthetic hormones then typically I recommend that you not take it for very long. Definitely no more than five years or only as long as necessary. Again, very important to understand, we’re talking about synthetic hormones in that case, not the natural hormones.
Our body does not magically produce hormones as we age. In fact, it goes in the opposite direction. So when your provider says, “Hey, get off your hormones or don’t take them for very long.” He or she is talking about synthetic hormones. And, the studies there show that if you take synthetic hormones for an extended period of time, you can actually increase your risk of certain disease processes such as breast cancer.
However, this does not apply to natural hormones. Our philosophy is very simple and the science supports us because you should take hormones as long as you live.
